This is a world where no one knows the meaning of love and trust, all they know is fear.
It’s a sad world where parents teach children to fear
It’s a sad world where no one knows love or trust
It’s a sad world where parents don’t love their kids
It’s a sad world for you, and me

I’ve heard wondrous stories of times before
When parents would be kind to their kids
There’s no beatings, no drunken rages
There’s only gentle and soothing words

But now I go home and have to face reality
A mom who gets drunk and a dad who does drugs
A sister who’s knocked up a brother’s who dead
And a dog that’s only known hunger and pain

It’s a sad world where parents teach children to fear
It’s a sad world where no one knows love or trust
It’s a sad world where parents don’t love their kids
It’s a sad world for you, and me

They say that before there was an ocean
With crystal clear water and crashing waves
You could ride them with surf boards or simply swim
And make sand castles in the sand

But now there’s no clean water
It’s all covered in oil and grease
Fires are topping the ocean
And everything’s dying underneath

It’s a sad world where parents teach children to fear
It’s a sad world where no one knows love or trust
It’s a sad world where parents don’t love their kids
It’s a sad world for you, and me
