My father died when I was four and this is a poem I wrote for him.
Memories of Us

I see you through a hazy lens
somewhere within my heart,
Even though your here no more
your constancy is subliminal.
At moments when the days lie quiet
I return to the magic of a child,
I feel the warmth and love that held me
and kept me safe and sound.
The brightness of our days together
brings an ease to my soul.
Since you left the world is sadder,
and there is a place within my heart
that will forever remain cold.
All these years I have searched
to find what God removed,
and now I know I never will,
for I have learned that nothing can
replace a fathers love.
