All she ever wanted
was to be beautiful
She wanted to walk down the street
without any cares
All she wanted
was to be beautiful

She did her best
She held onto her dream
Never realizing
she already had everything
All she ever wanted
was to be beautiful

She lived in a world
where she was never good enough
they knocked her down
and laughed in her face
When all she ever wanted
was to be beautiful

One day as she lay
curled on her side
her dreams drifting
far and wide
something crossed her min

as she lay there
she began to realize
beautiful is not just what you see
beautiful was so much more
so much deeper
all she ever wanted
was to be beautiful

And she began to understand
beautiful started withing
slowly, softly tears began to fall
she realized all the others were wrong

Sliding her hand down her side
she felt for the first time soft warm curves
and not something to be ashamed of

She sat up more determined than ever
she wiped the tears from her face
She stood and with a determined stride
she walked to the mirror and looked
for the first time she really looked
at her face

She studied each feature
with a different gaze
beautiful was there she
she saw it now
soft hazel green eyes
fringed by sooty black eyelashes
a straight and cute little nose

Cheeks with a natural pink
and a soft full mouth ready to laugh
and maybe even be kissed
her hair a mix of browns
framed her face nicely
and almost begged to be stroked

Each feature she studied
began to seem sweeter
softer and maybe more real

Slowly she let herself look farther down
and looked at herself with fresh eyes
instead of ugly fat this time she saw
curves and soft places

Here she thought touching her breast
is a soft warm place for a lover or a child
Sliding her hand further
she followed the curve of her waist
and down over her hips that
were suddenly womanly
and no longer a shame

With a shake of her head
she squared her shoulders
and walked out the door
She no longer wished to be beautiful
for she already was.
