poem about summer love

Lying beneath the stars on that perfect summer night,
Since we were together everything was alright.

Recapturing all the memories we shared together,
Unaware that summer love would not last forever.

The countless moonlit evenings we once shared,
The numerous talks of how you would always care.

You captivated my entire soul,
When you said goodbye it was a burning hole.

Memories bring a sharp ache to my heart,
You swore we would never be apart.

I longed for you to hold me tight,
I just never realized that it didn’t feel right.

I thought you were a selfless boy,
Of course, that was before you treated me like a toy.

I was just an insignificant piece of art,
As well as an easy place to start.

You left me broken and shattered,
It’s now easy to see that you never mattered.

I gave you every piece of me,
I gave you my treasure chest key.

I should have never trusted you,
Now all I have left to do
Is move on...
