a poem made while staring out the window in class
staring out the window,
because it offers light,
offers a sweet escape,
offers something bright.

not looking to the ink
formed words up on the board,
for they offer nothing,
this window gives much more.

this comedy brings smiles,
through a resposne of natures strand,
but the gazing out to freedom
gives the little hope it can.

though bricks obstruct my view,
and twer tall and bland,
i glimpse the sky above
hovering above a beach of sand.

...........

i imagine the grains,
soft and warm
a texture that cradles,
to your foot it forms.

i see the rocks,
the shells about,
scattered and broken,
but beautiful no doubt.

i feel the breeze
ruffle my hair,
the sun with so
much heat to share.

small ladybugs gather
on smoothed drift-wood,
dragonflies hover
and the serenity is so good.

teh sand grows firmer,
sloping down,
and the color darkens
now i hear the sound

of small waves breaking,
the gulls faint call,
and i breathe it in,
feel it all.

the water is clear,
it slips over the sand,
the rocks it leaves
accent the darkened tan.

again the water
sleps on to shore
retreating back but
promising more.

i watch its rythm,
peaceful and steady
then the beating sun
whispers "youre ready"

i let fall these heavy clothes
as freedom flows,
and i step forward
into the beauty shown.

...........

glancing back
i see now,
the cage of answers
telling me how

to speak and act,
feel and think,
to hide from the world
let myself sink.

but my feet feel wet,
adn the window whispers sweets,
adn once again i look,
the skys gaze i meet.

..............

i see the lapping,
the moving sheet
of the magic water
that covers my feet.

it is cold
and good,
and i can smell it
as could

i hear and feel it,
see it taste it,
and now i shall find i will
be it.

i glide into the lake,
feeling each sensative real,
and i can imagine
how it all feels.

at first i walk against
the waves headed east,
but then i feel the pull
out west that rushes past my feet.

my toes wiggle
as they sink through the floor,
water, sun adn nature
has now become much more.

i close my eyes,
hold my breath
then plunge through the surface
down into the depth.

my arms stretch forward,
my legs kick back,
and soon the sweet air
i lack.

i break up
back to the world i came,
and again i feel the sun
the beach that looks the same.
