A poem about dreams, and how they are better than reality.

I like to sleep, because

I am safe inside my mind.

I know the halls and floors, every window and broken door,

I am familiar with every creaking board.

My dreams are vivid,

familiar and deep.

I would rather know the oblivion

of perfect sleep than ever have my dreams

become real, where they can be broken

and taken from me.

In the shadows of my mind

the past stretches back,

while forward my imagination climbs.

I do not need this world,

I do not care if I go blind,

just let me dream and drift onward through time.
