Love, through seasons.
Had I known that
Your love,
Would come in seasons

Fast approaching
While loves
Sweet sticky scent still slightly lingers
Within wet winters grass
Condensation bringing promises
Of new things yet to come
Blooming fresh,
As flowers do in springtime

Sun-shiny lovers
Blinded by a high summer sun
Within cloudless skies
Basking in each other’s warmth
No need for sunscreen
Cause…

Love was all we needed
For protection
Emanating love rays
While dishing up sundaes
Hot fudged love
&sticky caramel kisses
Topped with cherry stemmed perfection
Sprinkled with little bits of…
I love yous
&we was, simply nuts
About each other
No shame in saying…
I was simply whipped
Light as air
Weightless
Free-falling in love

So, how was I to know
That your love,
Would come in seasons?

&that when
the leaves began to change
So would you
Previous Yellow happy hues
Which, colored my heart
In different shades of you
Giving way to red&brown
Muddled moods
Becoming lovers who
Be simply holding on to
Love, taped together

Shorter days leading to…
Longer nights spent
Crying over better times
With every bare tree
Reminding me
Of my bare brittle heart
Winters snowfall making you
Cold as the crisp winter breeze
This now flows thru trees:
Where we once…
Carved initials

You+Me=Forever We

Had I known your love
Would come in seasons
Perhaps…

I’d have bought a sweater

But I still believe
In summer love
&When the snow melts
I know we'll do it all again
