One night Kane goes out looking for his next victim.
[Introduction]
A cruel smile played on Kane’s lips as he swung open the heavy door and stepped out into the cold, grim world, darkness surrounded him. He walked without a sound into the night life streets on Manhattan. Men and women past in groups floating in and out of clubs. Kane could hear everyone of their heart beats, every breath they took tingled his ears. His red eyes covered by dark sunglasses, as they searched for his next victim. Should it be the loud girl with her blonde hair dancing around her shoulders, her skirt like a belt, who was joking around with her group? No he doesn’t know where that has been. Maybe the loner boy walking with his head hung low, too easy Kane thought to himself. Different faces blurred by, but like usual none was good enough. That’s when she came into view. A smartly dressed woman with her black hair waving down the spine of her back. She was walking on her own on a busy street. Focusing hard, Kane ignored the rest of their heart beats and breathing in till all he heard was her heart. He followed her along the streets of Manhattan until she came to a stand still. Her eyes were focused on a baby’s crib in a shop window. She sniffed and clutched her stomach as a few crystal like tears fell from her eyes.

Kane took a few steps back as he watched this broken soul, wiping her eyes and patting her hair into place. With one more glance at the window she took off across the road. He waited till she had turned the corner, and then followed silently.

They were alone now. The street had only one flickering lamp light, most of the roads were swallowed by shadows. A car swung round the corner and the headlight made her black hair glisten. Once the small vehicle had driven off into the darkness, Kane closed in on the grieving women. Now so close he breathed in her sent, a sweet orange flavour filled his empty body. It was now of never he thought. First he hesitated, but the blood lust overruled his thoughts and he pranced.

She didn’t scream, she didn’t struggle, all that escaped her rose lips was a soft cry,
‘Please don’t’
His fingertips found there way towards her neck. Resting his finger on her pulse, the rhythm was different from the others he had slaughtered.
While the others were fast, hers was slow and steady. Kane breathed in her sent for the last time then plunged his pointed teeth and drank.

The taste was intoxicating, the sweet taste of fresh blood sent pleasure vibes through his body. The normal numb feeling in the pit of his stomach had turned burning hot.
‘No please’
She cried louder this time. Kane felt her body weaken from the lose of blood. A pain shot throw him as he was thrown back something had woken deep inside him, he could not kill her. Kane watched as the women pressed her hand to her neck. The dieing life in front of him turned around, her ice blue eyes found his. She backed away stumbling and dropping her bag. That’s when she panicked and took off in a weak run; Kane could have caught up to her if he wanted to. Instead he watched her body fade into darkness, Kane reached for the forgotten bag. Opening it, he found all it held was her purse. The purse held $5.50 and a couple of coppers. Also a few credit cards, but the one thing that stood out was her drivers licence. This had a small photo of her, a younger version. Mary Walton was her name.
‘Mary’
Kane whispered.
It suited her, Kane walked through the filled streets back to his crypt in a daze. People pushed past drunken with alcohol. Kane closed the door on the harsh world, and slipped down the door into a sitting position and pulled the card out of his pocket. Looking at her details he felt a shiver run through his body. A sharp pane filled his body; Kane gasped and bent his head. He lightly traced her picture with his numb fingertips, he softly whispered,
‘Mary.’
He felt the need to be near her, to have her to taste her. The pain filled his body; her white frightened face had burned into his head. The tighter Kane squeezed his eyes the more the chilling frost of his insides burned. He felt it, binding them as one; imprinting with Mary was both painful and exhilarating. What would happen now? He thought to himself, he let out another cry, her face blurred his vision, and the intoxicating smell of sweet oranges filled him in a burning sensation.
He huskily whispered
‘I need to find her’
