Inspired by Billie Holiday's song 'Strange Fruit' about all the lynching in the south..
Bodies hanging, swinging in the breeze.
Flesh burning, eyes bulging.
Necks broken, lives taken.

"Murder! Murder!" We call but no one listened.
Ropes ready in hand to hang the man, the woman, the child of color - of innocence from no other.

Bodies hanging, swinging in the breeze.
Flesh burning, eyes bulging.
Necks broken, lives taken.

In the night you can only see a shadow and the screams being carried in the wind like a haunting for the men that had no feelngs.
Left for days to rot. To be pecked at by the birds. And soon be joined by others..

Bodies hanging, swinging in the breeze.
Flesh burning, eyes bulging.
Necks broken, lives taken.

There for us to see. An action of hate and racism. The act of taking someone's life through a horrible thing called lynching.
No reason for these people to be hanging, to be taken from life so early without even a prayer.

Bodies hanging, swinging in the breeze.
Flesh burning, eyes bulging.
Necks broken, lives taken.

Dried up tears on their dark faces. The faces of innocence twisted in pain and agony.
Their dark skin is what brought them their fate.

Bodies hanging, swinging in the breeze.
Flesh burning, eyes bulging.
Necks broken, lives taken.

They have come so far just to be treated like 'fruit on a tree'.
To hang and be picked at by people careless and cruel.

Bodies hanging, swinging in the breeze.
Flesh burning, eyes bulging.
Necks broken, lives taken.

Gone.. But never forgotten..
