His eyes held not but empty promises.
His eyes—so dark and captivating—seemed to promise me the world on a silver platter.
And yet I knew in my heart it was an empty promise.
His smile seemed to promise me that I would never want for anything and that I would never again know the feeling called sadness,
But it too, was an empty promise.
His open arms promised comfort and protection;
Another empty promise.
I knew all this.
I knew that he couldn't do anything for me except hurt me even more,
But still I smiled back and let him embrace me.
And his dark, glittering eyes drew me in even deeper.
