A poem remembering a treasured gift I received.
Yellow and tattered,
warming me
inside and out.
My body surrounded
by stitches of love.
Unique in creation,
a reflection
of its maker.
Quilt,
threadbare and raveled,
transformed anew.
A coat,
created from squares
where once
my grandmother sought warmth;
now a treasure made
by wrinkled, talented
hands.
Generations of
memories,
protecting me
from wind and cold.
I wear
a Quilt.

This was inspired by a gift my grandmother gave me.  She took a quilt my great-grandmother had sewn and made it into a coat.
