Apprecieting the beauty of a child
Am sitting here on the front porch
staring and watching the setting sun
Outside i hear the sounds of passers-by
not left out are the chidren and their cries

At the sound of their cry tears fill my eyes
At the thought of their innocence, a smile touches my lips
the cares of this world, to them makes no sense
While our days we spend in endless labour
their days are spent in sleep and endless splendour

And when at night our worries keep us awake
with comfort they close their eyes to sleep till the dawn breaks
Just when we think we have lost our way
a smile from them helps make our day

Sitting here now, i release a sigh
watching the sky and how the night draws nigh
another day gone and the years counting
my ageing self, still always longing
for a chance to yet again be a child
because there is no such beauty, like that of a child
