had an idea for a cook in roman times i want it to be a comidy but it isn't funny at all
There is a small Villa on the Western coast of Etruria in Italia, Republican Rome. The simple life of its inhabitancies is bathed in fertile abundance all throughout its lands. The abundance of fruit and olive trees along with fields lush with a bountiful growth and harvest ensures an easy style of life for the peasant master of house and the small group of workers this Villa harbours. The place is called the Villa Varrius, for Rome; the only resident above peasant status is one young boy. A boy of confused beginnings whom believes is destined fore a great life. Confused about why he remains on a villa only one day’s journey from the city of Rome itself, where his father is thought to be curator to the great Forum. These thoughts are a plague upon him and difficult to grasp with a great absence of knowledge like this. The man charged with responsibility for his upbringing, the servant master of house, Reamis Condourien has always showed the boy love. But knowing about his father has enabled himself the true love of a real father that this boy needs. He will soon look to the age of manhood, and looking for a place to belong will begin to take its toll. Soon the young man will be of age for life to begin and he will be forced into a world he has not yet experienced. A world that is now full of corruption and greed, a world with seemingly less good men left than previous times boast. This young man will soon see what is to come of his great destiny; he will soon be on his own in Rome.

“Young Master Gregorius, Reamis wishes to speak with you.” The man bowed his head and left the room with only the creaking of the old wooden door to show his leave. The young man Gregorius stood to stretch his full height and held it for a breath before moving to reach for his red woven wool cape hanging from the hook bye the door. As he scanned the room looking for anything he might remember, he left the room and entered the long grass yard in the centre of their villas buildings. The young man was not sure what his friend wished him for but the only thought on his mind was of knowing who his father really is and why he himself is here on a production Villa. He has spent many nights on the edge of insanity thinking of the very topic; now that he has made it to this age he often thinks the only reason he survived the anguish of solitude was a greater force of curiosity. Now as he walks from his little hut at the south-east edge of the villa he replays all the previous meetings with Reamis that were imagined to be the one he longed for but fell quite short of a knowledgeable conversation, he thinks and decides to force the composure into his head and brace him self for yet another defeat on the intellectual level he is so irritatingly used to. Soon he completes the short distance between his own quarters and that of the master who has summoned him so late in this day, as he bangs lightly upon the rear door he notices he can hear voices from inside and pushes the door to move in. stepping inside he immediately sees his old friend Reamis Condourien speaking with his wife of many years. Gregorius sees the lady Jullia and bows politely to her as the two immediately stop their conversation creating an awkward silence in the air between the three attendances.
“You wished to see me Master Reamis, I came as soon as I was told.” The young man looks to the lady and back to Reamis, sensing an uneasy feeling hanging above them, their eyes locked on the new arrival the young man begins again.
“What is it my friends? I have come to hear what it is you have to say but fear you might have lost your tongs.” With a smirk of pleasure from the smoothness of his own wit Gregorius moves into the room and sits on a chair beside the table across the room from his hosts. There is a full skin of wine on the table with three cups carved from horn, Gregorius fills the three cups and turns in his chair to smile at the husband and wife across the room from him.
“Did you finish your work for the day my young friend?” the harsh and raspy voice was a comfort to the young man listening.
“Yes I did master Reamis, As well with my studies after that. I was slipping into an early sleep when I was summand here.” the two men shared a mutual smile when Jullia nudged Reamis in an effort to hurry him along. As the man looks up to his wife it is their turn to share a slight smile of some kind and Reamis speaks again.
“What do you know of your parents my young friend? We have never talked of such things I and wish to know where your mind sits.” Gregorius’ thoughts faded into a plane white canvas of disbelief and doubt before he tried to muster the words for a response.
         “Umm… Not much, I… haven’t.”
“Easy my friend, it is ok if you know nothing, we two would be the last ones on this world to hold any lack of knowledge against you, think if you must, take your time.” The boy sat with his eyes on the ground and began to think of how he could not remember anything he had slyly obtained over the years when the time had finally come to talk about them. Then for know reason noticed the comment Reamis had made. Why would he hold that against me, it is not of my actions? That makes little sense he pondered.
“Well master, I know nothing of my mother. Except for the confusing thoughts that were telling me the lady, Jullia, must be my mother. Only could someone so loving to someone else, could be the mother of that person receiving the love… I know this is folly, but my mind had to make some reasonable estimate, this one gave me a mother in secret. As for my father, Real father anyway, for my thought of a father is a mentor and teacher to the experiences of life before life is to take hold. If that were so, you, Reamis would be my father than. The knowledge of my real father is slight, and over the years I have concocted so many different dreams of what it is I come from that the mesh of truth to fallacy is almost unreadable. I think He is in Rome, is he not? An important man of some kind I believe. Why he is not here or me with him is beyond me.” The two sat in disbelief of the words from Gregorius, knowing the former child could not react to his situation in any different way; they were still shocked at the persona they played in his life through his eyes. Reamis spoke again.
“It is truly amazing how much you have grown in the last year my friend; we are boath very proud of you. What we have to tell you is not a story we think you will want to hear, most of it anyway. It is time for us to tell you of what it is we haven’t for so long. We do love you very much, you have been with us for nigh on 15 years now and are sorry for not speaking of this sooner but we believed you could not handle the truth of things. After you hear these things you must always remember that you hold a place deep in own hearts and you will always.” Gregorius was appalled bye the words from this man he has known for so long, his thoughts were always ending in glory and belonging but he was soon to find it not so, he sat content to listen trying to hold down the emotion and all the new thoughts swimming around in his head. Many moments pasted the gathering of three before Gregorius responded to his words.
“I believe I am ready, Master. Will you tell me of my true mother first?” Reamis nodded his head with a sorrowful expression upon him self and then began his long overdue tale of the young mans true beginnings.
“Your mother was a truly amazing woman.” As he spoke these first few words the lady present began to tear and Reamis himself showed a subtle yet unmistakable face of dreaming remembrance. The peasant master of house, Reamus was an incredibly loving man despite his rugged and ruff exterior of seemingly emotionless features and aged dry and cracking skin. He was born from his parents in the Roman province Germaina, and as an infant was brought from Germaina bye the wife of a commander whom was visiting her husband and found the baby under some leaves by a river. After that he was raised to be a servant in the city of Rome, until the day came when he joined the legions of the republic and won a life to be had in peace with close friends to share it with.
“Her name was Serendipity and she was very beautiful truly flowing with love. She and your father were married for a few years and they were truly a happy couple, a product of true love. She desperately wanted to be with child, as did your father. After they were without for almost two years they began to loose hope when you were conceived. As it happened everything was incredibly wondrous and they couldn’t have been happier. As she grew with child she began to experience… complications of sorts, pains and fever, sickness and she was confined to her bed for weeks at a time. Your father grew worried and almost sick with stress. Your father is a wealthy man and always has been so he called for the best physicians from the city of Rome and they could not help your mother. On the day you were to be born the man helping asked her what he should do, for you were to die. Your mother the strong Roman women she was made him save you. As a result she held you for a few breaths before she died. A truly magnificent moment, she sacrificed her life for that single second before she was gone.” Gregorius was unreadable; he sat silent with no expression until Reamis began again.
“Your mother loved you so much, she gave her life to give you yours. After you came, your father underwent a change in his head. He was not the same man he had been and refused to see you for the first few weeks of your life. Your father and I were good friends then, we knew each other for most of our lives, and my father served your Grandsire as I did your father and now you. We served in the ninth legion together for almost ten years until our actions persuaded our release from service bye saving the life of a few important men. I tried to help him but he wouldn’t hear from anyone at all. Your father, Odissious began to grow angry more and more every day until one day we found him in your nursery. He had intended to end your short and innocent life. I, along with a couple other friends of ours fought him to save your small life yet again; as we fought he ended up ending the life of one of his and my closest friends. Your father disappeared after that, he was not seen of or herd of for at least half of that year. When he showed up suddenly in the night one night he came for me, when he found me he charged me with keeping you and running his and now I suppose, your Villa. He spoke of this Villa as the Villa Varrious, For Rome. He was in a truly delusional state with ripped and tattered cloths, unshaven and dirty. Smelling like the pit of Hadies in the flesh. He spoke of leaving to Rome to take over his father’s holdings and this Villa would produce wealth for him in Rome. He demanded that I was no more than a slave and if I were to refuse his order it would surely bring death to everyone I know including myself. I have never seen your father Odissious Varrious after that moment. But he keeps his promises to me and twice a year he sends Republican solders to haul away our harvest, back to Rome for the wealth of the Varrious holdings.” The young man seemed confused at all this but undoubtedly more at peace with his tragic roots. Sad, but completely in a sense of understanding he slowly nodded to his friend with his eyes staring to the floor. The acting parents were holding their breath for the young mans reaction to the new knowledge he now harbours. As he pondered these issues he seemed to be struggling with his thoughts, in a light of beginnings he now finally knows.
