A moment of realising I could stand where I never thought possible
The Dreambirds


You, me and the sea where
All livingness found eyes and breathed
and the birds from the book I'd held in
tiny curious African hands
found flight above your pointing hand.

Where breeze ruffled pages like leaves
of far away, of promises and thoughts and rumours
this side of eternity I'd never imagined
I'd see.

The terns, magic, Arctic coldness and
sand laid out in swirling canvass for
thoughts to birth slow wooden dreams and
the prints of softly boots and bright red coat
and hair amok in the wind that carries these -
the dreambirds
