This poem narrates the effect of penury on the members of a family of a little poet.
    POVERTY

When i consider

What happens in the corner,

I begin to wonder

How long we are going to suffer.

For the Father

Who is the Breadwinner,

Is seen as a Begger

In the sight of his Elders.

The  Mother

Who is suppose to be a Supporter,

Is only a Sweeper

Of the White-man's gutter

With little pay from her Employer.

Even the sister

Who is to show some responsibilities,

Is living a life of immorality

And getting peanut in all her activities.

Oh!Brother

Who aimed to be a Footballer,

Is now an Hawker

Of some Cassaver

To the poor Villagers.

God,the Provider

Please rain down some Manner,

That we might have dinner

Else we go to bed  in hunger.
