Looking over your shoulder at the competition, tho helpful, is living in a shroud!
Looking over one’s shoulder
At the useless competition
Will certainly help one overcome,
Despite their talk and mention,
But that causes you to commit to winning,
Every minute of your life,
A constant duty and hassle,
Now consuming one in strife.

A man or woman’s shoulder
Should rise up tall and proud,
Not be stooped or covered
In a dark and gloomy shroud…
Saying one can’t be or do
Is not a useful surmise –
And looking over one’s vigilant shoulder
Is certainly not wise!

I’ve grown older every minute,
Looking over my shoulder,
At a competition I deemed useless,
Making me grow colder.
I’m not saying I should win;
I take losing for granted,
But tolerating a mindless challenge
Is such a cruel seed planted…

I believe this useful lesson
Can be extrapolated,
For one’s concern for winning
Can make one less elated.
If the competition thinks
That kicking butt agrees,
They may string you out for hours,
Doing as they please…

Just face forward; do not live
This life of doom each minute,
A calm and peaceful, tranquil life
Awaits you, so don’t do it!
One’s career is happily made
By all they achieve in time;
So just face forward, don’t look back,
And sizzle in your prime!
