A better ending than the original story. Juliet survived!
The moon was veiled with a thin layer of clouds that night, she noticed. The castle resounded with the soft, quick pattering of her footsteps as she made her way to the highest tower of it. The entire castle was eerily silent, save for her footsteps, which sounded unnaturally loud. Listening to her own footsteps as she ran, she thought that her footsteps sounded as if they somehow intruded on the silence of the ancient castle, but in a way, it was comforting to know that at least there was some life in the castle, even if the ‘some life’ was just her.

At long last, she reached the highest tower. She flung the door open, and upon bursting inside, was greeted by a relieved cry of “Juliet!”

Romeo embraced her tightly with both arms, then asked her, his blue eyes questioning and wary, “Are you really going to commit suicide?” Her eyebrows furrowed and her mouth dropped open a little.

“But…Naomi told me that…you were the one who was going to jump off this tower…” Juliet whispered, her voice breaking towards the end. Romeo frowned.

"But Naomi told me…” He started, then the penny dropped. How could they have believed what Naomi had said? Naomi loved Romeo and hated Juliet, and would do anything to keep Juliet out of the way between her and Romeo. But why did she have to bring them here?

Suddenly, a figure launched herself at Juliet out of the shadows of the corner, and Juliet’s eyes widened as she recognized the figure as Naomi.

“…Why...” Juliet gazed at Naomi pleadingly as she was pushed to the window. “We were childhood friends…why…” Naomi’s jet black eyes narrowed angrily.

“If Romeo has no love for me, then I will make sure that he would have no love for you too! After all, he can’t love a dead body, can he?” hissed Naomi venomously. They were dangerously close to the open window now. Romeo intervened just in time to save Juliet. Roughly pushing Juliet out of the way, he himself took Juliet’s place as the victim of Naomi’s murder. Naomi had too much momentum to stop now, and even as they fell from the window together, Naomi whispered a barely audible, “Sorry, Romeo...” Then an even softer, “Go to hell, Juliet…”

“NO!!!” cried Juliet as she saw Romeo fall from the window. She rushed to the window, and stretched both arms as far as they could go, as if she could reach Romeo. But she could not.

Romeo, seeing Juliet reach out towards him, smiled weakly, a smile that was meant to hide his sorrow. He lifted a single hand in farewell. The clouds parted then, and a pool of moonlight danced across Romeo’s face as he closed his eyes. The single tear that fell from Juliet’s eye sparkled in the moonlight before splashing onto Romeo’s pale, outstretched hand.
