A very short tragedy with the trappings of love and truth.
Veracious Love

Faux Pas (fou-pah) – is generally considered as a violation of accepted social rules or culture.

Mia continued to walk in an ample pace down the gold-laden sidewalk with her hands buried in her pockets. She smiled at the sound of leaves crackle under her feet as the autumn wind kissed her cheek. Two blocks down she curbed right and was on a straight path home.
Her mind though was tormented in confusion. She knew he liked him but the lingering thought was if he would actually step forward to do anything about it. Deep inside she felt the tingle burn in her chest as she shared the emotion but never in her life did she think it would reciprocate. She was always a silhouette in the corner and never expected to be noticed by even the faintest speck of dust.
Yet she was noticed and by the one person she adored most. It was a warm sensation that ignited a passion ready to explode. The only predicament now was when and where to let loose the built up fuel.
Turning right she walked back into her home and said not a word to her mother bustled in the ever-so-gallant world of sitcom. Finding solace in her room Mia laid to rest and willowed the night away, buried in questions of a man forever in her heart but never in her hand.

Oscillate – to twist with force.

The North Wind blew with a ferocious force that drove the winter snow to whistle the town like a lone leaf in a tornado. The months passed like a dying pendulum yet for Mia each day had become a higher step to nirvana. She had the luxury of being around him everyday in chemistry class now and she found him to be a more jack-in-a-box of interest than she first assumed. Wearing those thick glasses he seemed more of the conventional weirdo stuck in a corner at the senior prom yet amazingly he played the guitar well and appreciated the 90's grunge rock movement. He loved old comic books and was the expected Dungeons & Dragons bookworm but was also quite athletic. He was one of the unrecognized heroes of their football team.
It was this reclusion of his that Mia admired the most because she found herself in his image and it made her draw herself even closer to him. She knew the connection was there yet neither of them had the courage to actually convey it.
Perhaps one day. As for now, they would have to settle with the oscillating tides of love.

Veracious – truth.

Today was the day. She was set to confess euphoria to the boy the same day the flower pods would burst for spring. She invited him over today and had to pick up the right flower to offer. She knew she wouldn't get a negative response. He was just too much of a mild child to say it himself thus the call for her to do it on her own. She loved him and there was nothing going to stop her from telling him that.
She picked a lotus. Flower of eternal life.
The dusk came early and the sky grew dark. The firmament was littered with flickering stars yet somehow their gleam was stoic and their shine was dull. No clouds danced and the wind was silent.
She opened the door and the service of silence shattered with a scream. Immediately she broke in only to find the remainder of her refuge cluttered and destroyed. Her mother lay motionless on the floor. She was face-down in a crimson pool. The stench of death filled Mia's senses and she turned away to halt the arising nausea only to find a more horrid image before her.
He was there but he was not alone. Gripping the man of her heart was her father. She couldn't recall their previous encounter but she did remember the outcome. Her mother hit the slammer for a sin she did not commit.
Now he was here after several years only to finish the dance macabre. The boy in his hands looked pale with pain and had several bruises on his face and arms. The grip on his neck grew tighter and tighter yet he showed no intention to retaliate. His eyes only looked forward, to Mia, and it seemed as if words stumbled to sputter out of his mouth but no words came out.
The father looked at her with a dull glare in his eyes, the same dead space in the shimmer of the stars. No clouds faltered his thoughts. From his side he reached a small hand revolver and pointed it at his daughter.
There was no other place to go. Nothing to hide. Veracity.
She knew she was not going to make it. Neither of them were. A minute, perhaps less, was all she had to express her feelings before the bells toll. She forced her soul to march forth beyond the tears and opened her mouth.
But no words came. The only sound was a lotus dropping on the ground.

Eternity – to have no end.

The world was an endless void
a chasm of relentless torture
forever churning- an eternal rapture

Here I walked along the cracks
my soul sauntered aimlessly
to the dark unknown- and a shallow destiny

'pon a tree I came across
white and withered to the core
here I found the burning door
silver rope hung on its branches
and I knew what I had to do...
I strung myself to join the dances
and danced 'till my face was blue.

The world now shone in gold
the torture laid no more
I came to rest at death's galore...
