Loving me isn't for the faint of heart
Will you tell me it's right
Will you show me the way
Will you ward off my night
Teach me to pray
Did I say it was easy
Did I say I was brave
I know I'm freezing
Baby, from cradle to grave
It's how I've been
How I grew to be
Never really  was seen
Never could be free
And please understand
Please go slow
I can't take your hand
Til I learn to let go
Maybe someday I'll make it
Maybe I won't be afraid
I'll dwell in that spirit
Maybe have paid
For all of my sins
Lay down this rage
Maybe begin again
Turn a different page
For now please be silent
For now please be strong
My storms were all violent
My paths are all long
So if you can't stand here
And if you can't wait
Find another where
Leave me to my fate
I will not bind you
To the prison I made
And God forbid I find you
Wishing you'd not stayed
