A diary is found
To whom belongs these handwritten sorrows?
These hopes and these dreams of a thousand tomorrow's.
A scrolled out story of secrets and strife;
To whom belongs this beautiful life?

A memoir of treasures transcribed on each page.
The wisdom and strength; the journey of age.
The tale of her triumphs; the woes of her loss.
The lessons she learned; the bridges she crossed.

The battles she won, the fears she discovered.
This saga continues from cover to cover.
The growth of a woman in beautiful pen,
Scripted with love, the history of when?

As I sit here and read this narrative piece,
Amazed the adventure does not decrease.
I know this woman has lived life to it's best.
And I hang my head as the know fills my chest.

This life of a woman I've read in detail,
Now sits here beside me; she's tiny and frail.
She's been here all along while I thought her another,
For the writer herself is my darling grandmother.
