A dark, tragic love story in poetic form.
GOTHIC

He wakes up in his chamber at the break of dawn
Satin sheets slide away as a new day is born
From a four-poster bed he arises once more
To a world where the sun will now shine nevermore.

In a house dislocated from anything living
He spends his time alone for being tired of giving
Black brick and turrets is the place he calls home
Winding staircases rise like a human genome.

Nothing surrounds but a forest and fields
The trees intertwining providing a shield
From a world where he felt he would never belong
And a realm where a dream went oh so wrong.

Maybe he was an outcast from the start
From the day he was born with a pitch black heart
Growing up he was fond of romance and revenge
Any hurt that befell him he would surely avenge.

He loved to be alone and was drawn to the dark
Anarchistic and perfect at the missing the mark
The people around him were not his concern
The world held so much beauty with so much to learn.

So he grew up in a world where no one understood
He wasn't like them and to him that was good
But the love and passion inside him burned like a fire
With the power of flames that would never expire.

Now he walks to the window and touches black curtain
Drawing them back, it's a dark day for certain
Clothed all in black with skin pale as the dead
Long black hair falls touching lips ruby red.

He walks to his study and a candle he lights
Takes pen and paper and so now he writes
A book to dispell the thoughts in his mind
And to project his anger at a world so unkind.

Because he's sick of the sorrow and haunted with fear
These feelings won't leave him so they steal one more tear
But he'd cry a million a day for the rest of his life
For the love that he had for his beautiful wife.

An angel on earth she was beauty defined
She stays forever in his heart and his mind
It was perfect and so he was quick to propose
With a ring made with diamonds and a single red rose.

So why did she secretly want someone else?
The heart is so treacherous and it never tells
He thought she was perfect in every way
But she lost her innocence and it faded away.

This betrayal shattered his heart into bits
He is prone to aggression and incendiary fits
No one can have her, she will always be mine!
Was the thought in his head when he crossed the line.

He loved her so much it was too hard to take
The pain in his stomach and his lonely heart ache
The blood on the blade will there always stay
The last remnant of her that stands to this day.

Because he killed her with tears and filled with love
And fled with her in haste like wings of a dove
She now remains buried under the ground
Beneath his home of black walls she now makes no sound.

And the cause of this tragedy also was slain
The man who intruded and caused so much pain
Killed in his bed with no remorse or care
Revenge that was sweet and came out of nowhere.

So now he resides in his palace of night
Writing his words under flames burning bright
Sipping red wine and an absinthe blend
Romance and revenge prevailed in the end.
