poem about a man going off to warand his wife is pregnant with his child.

The Baby Forged From Two Souls

the blade weighs heavy in my hand
the glint of sun reminds me on my finger lies a band

I breathe deeply and compose myself
I pray to the goddess for my health

As we march I dream of her
That I will make it back I am sure

I dream and think of her womb
I pray I see it before I enter the tomb

A child waits on my return
to see the baby I do yearn

I walk, the city now in view
the sky a deep blood red hue

I grasp my blade and say a prayer
I ask the gods that hope is there

The opposing troops begin to yell
They faught as though they were demons from hell

We raised our swords and faught back
little did we know of the behind attack

Arrows rained down, and killed us off
my life did end with a cough

and as I died, I did think
why did I leave while she was on the brink

I left her alone, and my child too
my heart dripping that red hue

I said to the gods a final time
my lords, I know it is my time

protect my child, let it be
let it turn out better than me

with that the light did stop
and his soul reached out for the top

at that same moment was heard a scream
A rushed and hurried team

a pool of blood, a mother dead
as did show the baby's head

the baby was born, and the baby will live
for our souls combined the gift of life we give
