crystal is hard but it can always break.
Crystal is hard but fragile.

He knew it would someday end,
Never imagining it’d be his doing.

The memory of a vast green field,
A little cabin in the deep woods,
A private hiding place from noise,
Her orange-colored hair in the wind.

Her bright smile shamed the sun,
A beautiful song of laughter,
She would say thank you lover,
Their lips tangled in this time.

I am so lucky he happily thought,
Joined forever to my favorite star,
He was the sky that kept her safe,
How fast did those months pass?

In the city her smile did not shine,
Her hair was opaque and stiff,
The words thank you so far away,
I hate you replacing them instead.

How can she be so cruel? He said,
He did it all for her and the future,
How could she be so hard to me?
He was no sky and she was no star.

Even in her death she looked hard,
A beautiful diamond among them,
Yet she was something more fragile,
Hard like a crystal but breakable.

He didn’t call anyone for hours,
Just sat next to his dead crystal,
So beautiful and so breathless,
Sure that this was his own doing.

Crystal is beautiful and hard,
But so fragile it can still break.
