A sequel to "My Light" (also in my portfolio).
The light was warm and comforting,
For fathoms it sustained.
It was my shield from evil things,
My comfort when it rained.

For once my heart was fully sewn,
So proudly it would beat
And lend it's rhythm to the tone
Of every kiss so sweet.

But as with every beam of light,
The shadows nearby loom,
Mimicking each loving plight
With whisperings of doom.

The dying day reluctantly
Gave up it's valiant fight.
The warmth would fade, the light would flee,
Succumbing to the night.

At first I searched in blinded faith
That 'round the bend it hid.
"Won't find it..." hissed a haunting wraith.
Indeed I never did.

Light's alter ego clung to me,
Attacked my heart's weak niche,
Made wistful every memory
Plucked open every stitch.

What once had seemed so small before
Was now my piece of Hell.
I soon lay curled on mossy floor,
Plagued by a lonesome spell.

Now as I numbly stare through dust
And giant blades of grass,
I wait for something I can trust
As all light comes to pass.
