reminisce, stages, transition
They say your life flashes before your eyes when you die

But friend, let me tell you this:
When you've spent the final weeks
Bed ridden, incontinent
A host to your disease
Amidst hand held visits
and blubbering eyes

You're left with time to reminisce
First day at school
First crush
First kiss.

I'm not sad when I think
about all the things I'll never have
No driving lessons
No wedding plans, honeymoon
or kids.

I've no regrets, what ifs, what could haves?
With that in mind
A smile on my face
and your photo at my bedside
I close my eyes
...and peace,
I die
