A dark, funny comedic poem about a witch seeking a mate - Happy Halloween!
Once there was a toothless witch
Who always dressed in rags;
Her smile was like an empty ditch,
Her body full of sags.

She sought out a king she helped appoint
To act, upon hearing the rooster,
For she’d had no luck up to this point
Finding a mate that would suit her.

This king gazed upon her with a smile,
And said, “What a shape full of sags!”
“A nice set of clothes, and you'd really have style,”
“No person wants a witch dressed in rags…”

He further appraised her toothless grin
And her efforts at make-up and glamour,
And said, “Good clothes can never do you in,”
“That'd be hitting the nail with the hammer!”

Her make-up no help, with no teeth,
But she eventually found a new lover,
Who saw excellent clothes and was eager beneath
For them both, their designs to uncover…

Love is a carousel spinning 'round,
With beauty only skin deep -
Both of her feet staying on the ground,
Dressing well, despite being a creep...
