A young boy finds himself left all alone after his parents death from civil war
The birds out side were singing songs, the smell of the nearby woods were rich and pungent mixed in with my mothers cooking. my room was small and I had very few possessions but what I did have were of good use. I had a table with paper and ink, a bed, a small bow with eleven arrows, one went missing when I had shot a bird but an animal must have gotten to it before I could because when I got to were the bird landed it was no longer their.

My parents cold listless bodies staring at me, but were they really? I mean they were dead after all, or maybe their was some life left in them! No that's just my imagination playing cruel tricks on me. they are dead.... otherwise my father would be up and fighting by now, and the rough hands gripping my wrist wouldn't be dragging me through the front door of my house. This is a nightmare it has to be;  any moment I will wake up to my mom brushing my hair back out of my face and asking me what was wrong. right? The man who was dragging me picked me up with both hands and held me to face him face to face. This isn't a dream, and I knew that If I didn't do something soon this man would kill me.
