Old man river so swift and cool, I've come here today to talk with you.
He's left me again so sad, so blue, oh tell me please what can I do?
I know I'll surely lose my mind, because he's gone for good this time.
Oh why must love be so cruel, why must it always leave me blue.

Old man river so swift and fast, do you know why love never lasts?
If you have the answers that I need, please help my heart to believe.
Oh why must love be so unkind, why does it break this heart of mine?
Can you tell me if it will heal in time? Oh man river please ease my mind.

Oh man river so swift and cool, I've come here today to talk to you.
Oh why must love be so cruel, why must it always leave me blue?
Oh tell me please what can I do?
