"Lost but still playing the game"
Shadowy shapes
Unfinished drawings
Sketches and smudged charcoal

I open my eyes and I look all around me
Around at this faded world

If I'm lost in a book
Then the pages are old
Yellow and stained with tea

If I'm lost in a story
It's too dark to read it
Is it still about You and Me

I try to step back
To look down a path
And find places where I went wrong

But instead all I find is
Faint colours and whispers
A bent canvas, a tuneless song

I step forward, I stumble
Can't breathe when I whisper your name
I'm lost and I'm broken, my colours are fading

Lost but still playing the game

I close my eyes
Pull my arm from my side
Reach out for anything

I drop my arm

I keep my eyes shut

I give up.
But I know I’ll search again soon.
