The journey of life.
One day a young boy sat at a window watching the snow fall to the ground. He started to think about the snowflakes and when they reach the ground, they become a solid blanket of snow and where they land is something they can never know. He wanted to ask at least one of the snowflakes a question. He decided, even though it was cold outside, he was going to open one of the windows and invite one of the snowflakes to chat. At first, he wasn't sure if any snowflake would come inside and talk but after thinking it over, he thought it couldn't hurt to try.
He opened the window and a gust of wind came through as well as a couple of snowflakes. All the snowflakes escaped the boy but one.
"Can I ask you a question, little snowflake?" said the young boy with excitement in his eyes.

"I suppose you can ask me a question, after you opened the window and all", replied the little snowflake.

The wide-eyed boy asked, "Are you scared while falling in the sky, never knowing where you are going to end up or why?"

The little snowflake just smiled and then started to reply, "I am not scared while falling because it is just part of my journey that I get to live. On my fall, I will see things high in the sky and even low to the ground. It is okay with me that I don't know where I am going or why because my landing only has to do with the fall I have chosen."

The boy looked puzzled and then stated, " How can you choose how you have fallen? The wind is much stronger than you, little snowflake, how can it be possible that where you fall has anything to do with your choices?"

At this, the little snowflake said, "Well, you see, it is not that the wind is not stronger than I or any other snowflake but while we are being pushed and swirled around aimlessly in the sky, each snowflake see something different, how they feel about it. When you think about it that way, it doesn't matter if the wind pushes me a certain way because I get to choose what I see on the way down. When I fall and lie with the rest of the snowflakes, in a giant blanket, I get to rest from my long journey and become part of a greater story which will be the blanket I will sleep in forever."

The young boy looked slightly taken aback and said, "aren't you sad that after all that traveling that your only option is sleeping forever in a blanket of snow?"

The little snowflake smile once again and retorted, " One day after all of your adventures, you too will want to rest in a giant blanket of your own to share with others that have traveled on your journey. But I must go now and carry on with the rest of my journey."

The young boy opened the window and the little snowflake escaped as easily as he was captured. The boy shouted out the window, " Goodbye little snowflake! Have a great trip, I will always remember you!"

And as the old man lie in his deathbed, he thought of the little snowflake finally getting to the blanket of snow waiting for him.
