An entry for flash fiction challenge prompt of 4th JAN, 2010.
It was a beautiful spring afternoon, contagiously warm and 'sunshiny'. I was taking my routine stroll around the park and soaking in the smells and sights of the season when suddenly a huge figure blocked my view. It looked like Mrs. J, my amply endowed boss. But what had she done to herself, I thought in ghastly horror. The pink muck on her face shone brighter than the afternoon sun and the scarlet lip color would have put Robert Pattison's 'bloody' lips to shame. Her hair was dyed in all hues of the rainbow and her faux fur dress made her look like a grizzly bear.

She was busy on the mobile phone with someone. I shamelessly eavesdropped in order to get a clue to her horrendous maquiallage. "Yes, I will be there by six. This fashion show will definitely rock."
My mouth fell open. Mrs. J was going to walk on the ramp? What was the fashion world coming to?
She suddenly looked up and saw me. She ticked me off with a disapproving look, "What are you staring at? Have you not seen a beautiful lady before?"
I choked back the reply that was bubbling up in my throat and manged to ask instead, "Where are you off to in all this finery, Mrs. J?"
She blushed redder than her lipstick and replied coyly, "Celine and I are going to a fashion show. She is walking on the ramp and I will be cheering her on from among the audience."
My relief at knowing that she was not the intended model was immense. I managed to bite back the relieved sigh. I asked her, "Who is Celine? I don't see anybody else here. Where is she?"
"Oh, I am sorry. I did not introduce you to her. Here is Celine," saying this she pulled out a tiny chihuahua who was cramped between her bosom and her armpit. All I could do was stare again and the poor mutt looked at me as if asking me, "What are you staring at?"
