Written during the last month of my dad's life (he died 11/22/09 of cancer).
"You were never like this before,"
with hatred lit in his depthless eyes.
My world doesn't exist around his
diseased psyche.

Emotions are inexplicable things,
abstracts I can't break down into
molecules, atoms, neutrons,
and logic.
How do you explain rage

consuming like the wayward
cells clustering behind his
bastard's eyes?

Chaotic DNA is easier to
explain
than why he
resists the inevitable
and
tortures my breaking heart
only to apologize too late.
