How I felt after moving back in with my dad when I was twenty
washedupswea t (d) ry toasted to tornadoes
wrecking balls n' thimbles
nightingales ran out of songs
sparrows swelling with sorry notes
like the mail box of mister misery
exhusband of regret
to inform you of the suddenloss of your

anything important to you
everything
& hope dangles in the soft breeze
hung out to dry next to
your favorite womans underthings...

woke up to christmas everyday after i met you ,baby
& then the kissing turned to sneezin'
pleased to follow reason
able
to
fish out your faith
fore the well runs dry

wrangoutshovedin washedup harden.hard times rudememories... softcolours cloud your shape in my mind
dried-up-tossed-out garbagethrown to the street
to beggars who cant complain
hair-brained-pea-brained-he-brained-"what's new?"
bloodcold too old too young too few
many hours n'miles n'minutes
having a dream just to see who'as in it
limpedhome dragged-down shotdown felt up yelled out
"shhhhhhhhhhush up,down there i've got dreams n'as-pie-rat-ions,too!!"
& the laugh that followed was swallowed by the bridge
& fed to the river,
which briefly sputtered
& rushed on.

& aren't the birds (awful quiet) tonight?
