Atypical love poem
I’ve locked my heart inside this box

So you cannot rip it out again –

It’s buried three feet deep

So you cannot dance upon my bloody muscle –

I lost it in the woods somewhere

Somewhere it is safe from you –

My heart once beat slow

It once meant only pain

It gave you love when you proved impossible to love –

My heart withstood grimace

It stood strong against mistrust

But it finally fell limp with your brutality –

Yet My heart struggled to pump day after day –

Night after frigid night

Until it could – would not – pump for a second longer

I locked my heart in a box

Because I feared you –

I buried my heart deep

Because your reach was long –

I lost my heart

Because you did not want it –

Because of you          I am dead
