poem about cheating
Torn to Shreds

Simple words torn to shreds.
Will my heart beat ‘till Dead?
Traffic light flicker green-yellow-red;
I daze out the window, of the highway’s soft tred.

Here I sit- fingers tamper.
With tear stained cheeks, my eyes damper.
Grain of sand, must you wait?
Night falls slow, its half past eight.

Minutes stutter- hours tick.
The thought of him, makes me sick.
Trembling hands, clinch ink smeared page.
Deserted tonight, a bird trapped in cage.

I can not sit and dwell any longer.
Trudge up the stairs, thought I was stronger.
My emotions overtake, I fall to my knees.
Take this pain away, hear my pleas.

Oh the frustration hurts inside.
Bottled up fear; Had I not tried?
Curse his name! I take the pain!
One love letter, signed in vain.

Simple words torn to shreds,
Kind words lay at his lover’s bed.
Alone in the darkness now I take,
Devoted pillow comfort me till I wake.

Grim Reaper rest tonight,
wait until morning light.
Wait to take my bleeding heart,
and make my wretched soul depart.

POUND POUND POUND, it beats so hard.
Who knew loyalty played its own card.
Jack of spades, Queen of hearts.
That joker’s tricks ripped me apart.

Abandoned, I lay in my bed.
Same torn words run through my head.
Pain, grief, anger I feel at once.
Breathe it in, take the rush.

Do I have the power to rise to my feet?
No, tuck back in, where face and blanket meet.
Once two hearts I thought were complete.
All destroyed in one word- cheat.
