Funny review of the new Meryl Streep movie, "It's Complicated"
I loved this Movie.  And I don’t like movies like this.

It’s complicated.

I don’t care for comedy, stupid stuff, or movies with Steve Martin.

Meryl Streep was the draw.

Actually, Meryl Strep turning 60 was the draw.

Actually, Meryl Streep turning 60 and divorced was the draw.

And then there were the three children.

You see, I’m turning 60, divorced and have three children.

And I have to tell you – this movie was ME!

I mean, this was my life in a nutshell.

Well, maybe not exactly the whole nutshell.

I’m not thin and blonde like Meryl.

Although we both have that “droopy eyelid” thing going on.

That’s sexy?  Right guys?

Then there’s the beautiful home in Santa Barbara part.

Well, to be honest, that’s not exactly me either.

I only have a two bedroom condo outside Seattle.

But otherwise.

Oh, and I drive a Kia

But otherwise…

I am divorced with three children.

And except for the fact the kids didn’t go to some fancy,

shmanzy New York University,

only to the local community college,

This movie is totally me!!

Well, except for the part where I could actually afford an architect

to remodel my home that I bought with the proceeds

of my divorce (yea right, like there were proceeds….like there was even child support, like there was….oh forget it)

It’s Complicated!

But I laughed so hard.

The funniest part of the entire movie is when Meryl tells the Doctor that she “needs a lot of semen”.

I’d explain that part to you but then I’d have to print “spoiler”.

Anyway, it’s complicated.

And that part is not me.  I don’t need a lot of semen.

But otherwise.

This movie is totally my life.

There is a scene where Meryl and Steve Martin get stoned.  The last time they smoked pot was 27 years ago.  This is me to a “T”.  Well.

I haven’t smoked pot since 1972 but I’ve thought about it.  And watching them do it looked like so much fun

that I thought more about it.

So you see?  Are you making the connection yet?  No?

Well, that’s because it’s complicated.

Sitting in the theater with my best friend on one side and 22 year old daughter on the other, I found myself explaining my life to both, in different terms, turning from right to left and whispering things like:“Don’t worry, I would NEVER have an affair with your father”(this was said to my daughter, not my best friend) (how complicated would that be?)

and “I want to smoke marijuana”(said to my best friend not my daughter) but she overheard me and said “I can get you some, Mom” And I said “Oh my God, NO!  I would NEVER do that ”Oh – it’s complicated, I tried to warn you.

So the whole premise of the movie is that Meryl Streep is having an affair with her ex husband (Alec Baldwin) while dating (Steve Martin).

Well, as I told you in the previous paragraph (weren’t you listening?) that would NEVER happen, so maybe the movie isn’t exactly like my life, but you get the picture.

Actually, even going out on a date, I don’t think so, not so much.

Not interested.

Not interested in men (oh, and not interested in women either) In a sexual way I mean,  not in an “I want to be your friend” way.

Oh, I’ve tried to warn you, It’s Complicated.

So to recap:

I’m a divorced 60 year old woman with three kids, Driving a Kia,

Not interested in dating.

NOW do you get the connection?

Oh, and my ex could never get a second wife that young or that hot!

Just go see the damn movie

And think about me….ok?
