Its 2.00 am.I wake up to the cry of my baby/2 year old son.Its not the cute baby cry.Its the angry loud annoying cry of a two year old.Its the last thing I needed tonight as I have to leave for work in about 3 hours.

I get the baby and settle in the living room.Looks like he had a nightmare and is crying for his life.

I am getting frustated as I desperately try to figure out what is wrong with him or how to make him calm down.I think some cold watermelon might help. Its his favorite and it always helped whenever I felt sick in my pregnancy.

I am so happy to see Ima walk into the living room.So nice of him to wake up at this hour to help me!
At least he can help to cut up some watermelon.

On top of the babys cry I hear Ima asking me to kill a cricket.I look at him suprised.I am going insane with the babys crying and he wants me to kill a cricket because he is afraid of it?
I tell him to leave it alone and get me something to help calm our baby.

He comes back, armed with a big can of insect spray. One quick spray at the animal then he jumps back 2 metres. The second spray lasts longer and he jumps back even further.

By now the smell of the spray has reached us.I watch with disgust and frustration at my selfish spouse. The baby is even more upset at seeing his dads disinterest in him.

Ima walks away.Im so happy this is over.

But no, he comes back.
With a shoe in his hand.Oh no!.
I let him know that the poor animal is already dead.

He throws the shoe at it and jumps back. When the cricket does not react he confidently with pride dramatically finishes it off. Then he gets a big wad of tissue and throws the cricket out the door.

By now the baby is quiet, watching in amusement as to what was going on.My hero hubby then comes to us asking how he can help.....

I only mumble that the baby is ok now.

As I put my son back to bed,I wonder what would have happened if the cricket had gone into hiding in our house!
