In which our hero gets up early to go to school, but there is no school
Got up at 21.00 hours. It was cold and Inter were beating the west London filth. The mason called in at 6.15 hours by which time I had watched most of series one of the Sopranos.
There was a heavy frost on Knockranny, by our calculations there had been a frost every morning since December 14. Hit the city at 7.30, the sun was up, a strong winter sun like I got so used to in Barcelona. I bought the paper and cigarettes in a corner shop. The shopkeep told me this was our harshest winter since 1912.
I still had ninety minutes to kill before class, went up by Long Walk and over the foot bridge to the Claddagh, I saw Brendan out walking his dogs but he didn't remember me, he is very old so I don't mind. Got breakfast in my favourite greasy spoon and tarried over my coffee. Time to hit the classroom, signed in only to be told there would be no school today as its open day. Wish I stayed up the mountain.
I haven't been in town for a while, it certainly has its uses, people and shops and whatnot. I will probably stay here all day, might get drunk later on, the world is my lobster. I could get my hair cut. Or look at the bikes in the bike shop.
