What happens when meditating and magic intermingle.
Tonight started like any other.  I did my yoga routine, showered, got into my pajamas, and began my nightly meditation.  I closed my eyes and let my breathing get slower and my heart beat softer.  I let all my frustrations and thoughts slip out of my mind.  I fell into the calming rhythm of my heart beat.

The clock’s ticking was a distant sound as I continued to sink deeper into myself.  I had the faintest feeling of flying, but thoughts weren’t allowed.  I had to keep everything blank.  I sat cross-legged for a half-hour before I let my eyes flutter open.

Everything looked different.  My room no longer held any of my things.  I was no longer in control of my body.  It moved towards the door.  I could feel my hand open touch the cold metal of the knob.  The door swung open and I made my down the hall.  I had no control.  I was only along for the ride.

I flipped the light switch on in the bathroom.  I headed to the sink, turned the faucet on, and looked into the mirror.  My eyes, that weren’t my eyes, widened.  A mid-twenties man stared back at me.  We were both stunned.  He was standing where my body was supposed to be.

“What the hell?” The man exclaimed, jumping back from the mirror.

How could this have happened?  I’d never mind-jumped during meditation before.  What went wrong?  Was I stuck this way forever?  No!  I wouldn’t let my consciousness live inside a man for the rest of my life.  I had to get back to my body.

The guy knocked on the glass.  “Hey you.  How’d you get inside the glass?”

“I’m not inside the mirror,” I retorted.  “I’m inside your head.”

“No way!”  He leaned closer to the mirror and my reflection followed.  “This is awesome.  Can you hear my thoughts?”

“No and I don’t want to.  I just want back in my body.”

He nodded.  “Yeah, well, I think we need to retrace our steps.”

I rolled my eyes which made him glower.  “Sorry,” I apologized.

“Whatev’.”  He shrugged.  “We had to be doing something at the same time.  Do you practice magic?”

I gawked at him.  “Are you serious?”

“Okay, that obviously isn’t thing we were doing.”

“The last thing I was doing was meditating.”

He grinned.  “You meditate and you don’t believe in magic?”

This was ridiculous.  Of course I would end up in a chatty person’s body.  “I never said I didn’t believe in magic.”  I shook me head.  “I don’t want to talk about this.  Do you meditate?”

He nodded.  “But I was also using my gift.”

“I don’t need to know about that.  Let’s just redo what we were doing.  I want my body back.”

We headed out of the bathroom and back to his dark bedroom.  He lit the candles that were placed in a circle.  He sat in the middle.  We both slipped back into our meditation quickly, but it was hard for me to clear my thoughts.  We breathed together and our heartbeats matched.  Finally I got my thoughts to flow out of my mind.  I felt calmer.

I don’t know how long we were in his body together.  When I opened my eyes I saw a familiar bed and posters on the walls.  I screamed happily as I quickly got off the floor.  My hands patted my body up and down.  I was glad to be back in my own skin.  With a sigh, I plopped down on my bed.

I never want to be in someone else’s body ever again, I thought to myself as I fell asleep.
