Poem i wrote
My love, friend
And obsession.
The things I’ve done and
Forfeited because of you.

For you I have starved
And pretended not to care.
At a time when I was meant to be saying sorry,
You made me say all the wrong things
And lost me good friends.

Days when I couldn’t travel,
Instead of asking,
You made me steal.

When dark storms came thundering into my life,
You made me keep a bold face,
To hide all the fear.
“Better to seem proud, than weak”
You said.

I have fought loosing battles,
Comforted situations I could have left.
Just so I could protect you
And make you look pretty.

I have misread events
And come to conclusions
Only you would like.

You’ve lead me through many paths.
Lost me a lot
And somedays gained me respect,
Respect only you would under stand.

They say pride comes before a fall.
If this is true then I’ll fall many times,
Because fall I certainly have.
Hopefully one day I’ll learn the graceful ways of humility
And maybe,
Just maybe understand,
The strength in meekness.
