The poem relates to how many times we are torn between choices...
He lay on his bed calm and still,

But the thoughts in his head lay crumpled..

Voices in his head spoke deep and true,

But the sound of that voice remained muffled..

They hissed and they moaned, he grunted and he groaned,

But the sound remained like the feathers of a bird ruffled..

He gulped his silence to listen and learn

But to understand them his ears still suffered..

He tried to talk them into being loud, begged them to be clear,

But the sounds kept being distant, not a clue of what was said was near..

His reason fought with his insanity, both wanting to assume control,

The winner of this war will ruin his life was his lasting fear..

He didnt want his insanity to win, because his reason kept him alive,

But he wanted this madness to grow because the voices in his head he wanted to hear..
