The birth of 'Kid-Pix'

                                                                            Kid Pix
Amanda was drenched with what many term as ‘a juvenile fantasy, of realizing one’s dream and passions, all in a world so uncertain.  She was obsessed with becoming an artist, but unlike her Italian friends whose destinies have been decided, of ending up as artists and continue their family legacy; she wanted to be a ‘revolutionary’ artist. Unlike her friends’ case, there were not many who would help Amanda foster her dream and pursue it.  She was opposed to her father’s yearning of familiarizing her with his musical instruments hoping she too could develop a flair for music. In this land, a flair for music was thought to increase the prospects of better bridegrooms, richer ones for that matter.

Yet, Amanda could not stop but spur her artistic instincts to cultivate them further even through quirky means. The dearth of her family’s support, in terms of encouragement and money, could not prevent her coming up with novel plots to follow her passion. Often she would convince her tutors at school to allow her to practice drawing and painting for extended hours in the evening.  At other times, she would just join up with her richer, privileged friends taught various forms of art by skilled private tutors, on the condition that she would help them with their art assignments. Her intuition now told her she could move on to innovative forms of art, beyond conventional forms.

Soon, she participated in some prominent nation-wide art competitions, promoted by the Italian Government, only with the aid of money she borrowed from her friends. Much to her parents’ disbelief and her delight, she was offered scholarships to graduate from prominent schools of innovative art forms in Venice.  In no time, she was a budding ‘modern’ artist, also proficient in contemporary computer-tools and software for image-editing and design, besides trying out inventive forms of art.

Now, it was Amanda’s turn to give back as an artist and a specialist in image-editing. Because of her childhood longings, she believed she could make the utmost difference in kids’ lives by helping their dreams blossom. They could become the artist they desired to become in modern times She wanted to bless them with something she missed as a child, but as she looked around herself she noticed that most of the kids were fixated by the computer games and other trivial stuff. The ‘computer’ had spread its wings and reached out to the masses, thanks to the onset of the Computer Age. It was hard for her to reach out to the masses, unsure if they had the slightest inclination towards art and drawing in the first place. Nevertheless, her zeal of bringing about a ‘revolutionary’ change did not die down.

A novel idea struck her of appealing to the masses... not just kids, but those of other ages too. If the rage of personal computers was what infatuated people, she would reach out to them through the same channel. She soon tied up with a troupe of professional software-designers, to transform all her ideas to just a series of code in digital language. The aim was to design a simple drawing program, its name yet undecided, that would incorporate basic drawing tools, along with a host of creative digital click-icons, to render digital tools like ‘fade’, ‘glow’, and ‘erase’, she hoped it would make image editing just a ‘kid’s play’. The program was soon out in the market, what a pearl! ; the team and Amanda lingered anticipating how many creatures, big or small, but would take a glimpse at their pearl.

The drawing program was an instant sensation; kids and other people of all ages devoured the program finding it a staple to grow on. Amanda had undoubtedly succeeded in getting her creative ideas to the masses through spiriting a brand new technology of art and drawing. It no longer depended upon the people accepting it; they did. ‘Kid Pix’, came to be known as Amanda's brainchild. Now that the PC was here to stay, ‘Kid Pix’ was here to stay…leaving its mark upon the pages of history. Its power to activate the ‘art-gene’ in humans started impregnation in early childhood and worked its way into the mature adult.
