A poem about the selfish acts people do when confronted with their own mental illness.
How can you take for granted
The life you could have,
Should have when
All else failed you.
To leave those lonely
Forgotten, yet claim
To love, hold dearly
Yet do naught to stop all pain.
Ease the burden of the soul
Let go of what was, look at what is.
Needed, wanted, hurt, alone
By that which is needed by that which can
Heal the raging currents of guilt that
Burns the soul, and tear the flesh.
The wounds that bring pain
Yet sweet release to only you
Turn your back to the pain that is all
You want, your lover, your mistress
