A woman looks to start a new life after a relationship breakup.
On days like these there were a thousand and one things that she should be doing. More so, now that Pete had finally left to move in with his new love – the dainty, skinny, butter wouldn’t melt in her mouth Cindy.

“That’s Cindi with an i,” she muttered as she grabbed a pair of jeans and a t-shirt and quickly dressed.

The lawn could do with mowing. It hadn’t been cut this year and was starting to look a little shaggy. Pete always liked a nice, neat lawn with trimmed edges and a good sharp cut. Stop thinking about Pete, she berated herself as she stomped downstairs.

Weeds were starting to appear in the flower beds and she had some bulbs to plant. She’d bought some daffodils this year rather than the tulips Pete loved.

Stop it!

She poured herself some juice and looked outside. The car needed cleaning. Pete always liked the car to be spotless inside and out. She slammed the glass down, furious with herself. Pete was gone and she had to make a new life for herself. Today. Now. This minute.

But it was hard. They’d been together so long. She thought it would be forever.

She looked out of the window, across the road to the park on the other side. A cold, wet nose nudged at her hand and she smiled to herself.

On days like these you should be outdoors, walking through the park, enjoying the sunshine, laughing at the dogs as they raced around barking.

Who knows, she might even see Mark as he walked his dogs through the park.
