Poem on the joys of dysfunctional love
We go through the motion
Splintered on wooden passion
Were they waves on the ocean?
Or dish water in the sink?
Oh joy
My heart would think
To hear the laughter
That you crashed from the rafter
The peel of saccharine becomes you
In the way of plastic laughter
Don't let my smile fool you
For I am furious
The fires are burning
I know you are turning
But it won't be for me
We strike our bargains
I blow ash onto sea
So depraved
This bleeds me
That I'll trim your sail
Ship afloat in a besotted bottle
I am too fragile
Don't want to be caught in the current
Don't want to shatter you across the bow
To set you free
Ah, my beautiful one
You don't know
What you've done
