A romantic sonnet, Shakespeare's favorite form. Always fun to write.
A cunning breeze distracts my longing mind,
It thinks it best to rest my weary cycle of ache,
But it's ignorant of a beauty so impossible to find,
Leaving waves of desire in her breathless wake.
Spinning and toiling across my ever pining face,
The wind whispers to forget her before it's too late,
My thoughts endlessly chase her at a feverish pace,
Yet her grace pulls away at an exponential rate.
Feeling worthy of such radiance is pious blasphemy,
Her brilliance expelling all darkness to the void,
An enrapturing gaze fells my vulnerable army,
My prideful sovereignty, irrevocably destroyed.
The wind speaks false of my heavenly beam,
I surrender in turn, to her, my waking dream.
