The picture - a statue on a table with gentlmen talking
“No, not this time. You cannot put up what you consider art, when you run out of money, William!”

“Yes, this is a serious poker game, not a trade bizarre.”

“But gentleman, this could be worth a lot of money. More than the current wager even.”

“Sure, William. Like that velvet picture of the dog shooting billiards. I will not be made of fool of twice, my good man.”

“Jackson, this is a family heirloom. Who knows what price would be paid in the antiques market.”

“Good Lord, man. Get some common sense. It’s a statue of a nude man. Even if it were worth a shilling or two, what would Victoria say if I brought such ‘art’ home?”

“There shall be no worries there, as I’m quite convinced my hand betters yours.”

“She already gives me a migraine about the way I dress. The last thing I need to do is bring home a statue of a muscular, unclothed man. She would doubt my manliness once again, I fear.”

“Your wife doubts your manliness? Pray, do tell. Are there ‘problems’ in that area?”

“This is not an appropriate topic of discussion, and in fact the topic should not be me but rather your lack of assets to continue this game. What in the world is that naked monstrosity doing with his arms anyway?”

“Jackson, you do seem quite enthralled with the statuette. Are you sure we shouldn’t let him wager it. Maybe it will enhance things in the bedroom if you acquire it.”

“This is no laughing manner, Douglas! Whose side are you supporting? Or are you once again a fence rider, looking on hoping to stir up a problematic situation?”

“No, need for harsh words. I was merely trying to help in all areas.”

“Your laughter betrays your words, friend.”

“A friendly game of poker this has turned out to be.”

“Well, honestly! How do you expect me to stay in good spirits when there is a statue of a Greek god, naked at that, on the table staring at me!”

“Ohhhhhh, now it has changed from a man to a Greek god. What powers this statue has over you, Jackson.”

“Yes, Jackson. I do believe it is calling to you. If it so pleases you, I will be happy to sell it to you for a small endowment.”

“Endowment?! What kind of nonsense disperses from your lips? Have you no common decency?”
