Pic: Farm land, two men, a boy, two horses
Three generations stand together looking at the land that is their family’s legacy. Though the landscape stays constant, they see entirely different things.

The older gentleman touches the grass as the sweet smell fills his senses. Memories of numerous hours of work with little monetary rewards tumble through his mind. But a farm is not about fortune, it’s about pride, memories, and working hand in hand with God. It is his wish that when his time comes for his soul to ascend into Heaven, that his family bury his empty shell of a body in the land he has toiled most this life.

His son watches his father, reminiscing of times that his dad seemed stronger than the land. Age has taken its toll as is the case of life. Building a fence or herding livestock are no longer a joy, but a struggle. He fought to make this land and world a better place than it was when he entered it. With every breath, he has accomplished his mission. Determined to carry on in the path of his father, the man hopes to teach his son as well as he has been taught. No tears will come to his eyes at what his father has lost with the passing of time, because he knows his dad has surely gained much more.

A boy of ten, eyes the two heroes in his life. Better than Superman and Batman, are his father and grandpa. The land they discuss from morning to night is a playground for the young boy. Riding his horse through the pasture, he has captured every villain and rescued needy soldiers. Some day he’d like to build a fort on the farm, just like he saw in a book. Dad and Grandpa will help. Each nail hammered in will be a memory in the making. His world is filled with infinite possibilities.

God’s land, man’s farm – a love that transcends the generation gap.
