My First Short Story--Kids on a mission to find a spirit's body. Will they get out alive?
On a stormy night in 1915, they were in the house and heard a knock on the door. Angie opened the door bravely.  She found on the doorstep a note that read, "Come to the Ocken Graveyard at 2:00 A.M. sharp tomorrow morning, or else," Angie read it to the others.

The next morning, they went there at 1:30 to be sure not to be late. When they got there they found on the headstone of the last name of Turner a piece of clothing from Tom's little sister that had died from the Bird Flu last year. Tom was devistated when he saw it, he thought that someone had dug her up. But when he turned to run off, he stepped on the trap.  It spit out a foul smelling gas, and they all fell asleep

When they woke up, they found that they were in someone's house. Lanie cried angrily, "Tom, what were you thinking to try and run off like that?  Now you got us all stuck in someone's house, and our parents are probably worried sick because we're not home. Thanks a lot!"

Just then a recorded voice came out of a little box that said, "Hello, my name is Spirit, and I would like you to meet Jalex."  That was the name of Tom's little sister. Then a light came on and showed the little girl's body hanging on a rope in the corner. Tom burst into tears.

"Your task," said the voice," is to find the key and get out as fast as you can, to go and find where the soldiers put my body, and bring it to me, in less than an hour. If you can complete this task, Jalex will come back to life. And if you fail to complete this task, then you will be locked up forever and watch Tom's sister rot away as you do."  Then the tape was over with four more words, "Your time begins now," and the clock started to tick.

Well, they found the key in Morries's hand bag.  When they got it, they unlocked the cage they were in and . . . "Um," said Jared, "Look down."  Below them was a 100 foot drop and they just wanted to give up because they knew that they wouldn't be able to jump to the other side.  Then Tom remembered his sister, "Come on you guys, we can't give up.  Think of Jalex."  Then they all gathered their courage and made the jump with no problem.

When they go to the other side, they found a small closet. Inside the closet was a small body. They grabbed it and were on their way. At the end of a very long hall, there was three different doorways.  One door read, "Come in and you'll never come out."  The next door read, "Enter to see what's inside."  The last door read, "Do not enter."  But they had to enter to save the life of Tom's little sister.  Melony said, "Let's split up.  I mean, what's the worst thing that could happen now?  We are already going to die, so why not enter?"  She was right.  What could happen now.  "Let's go team," said Jennifer.

When they split up, the four that went into the second door found Spirit first.  They were on one side of a big cage.  "Thank you all for coming," said Spirit.  "I am glad to have you here.  Now, since you all found me and all did the task in less than an hour, I have to keep my promise.  I'll be right back, children.  I have to go get Jalex."  When he got back, he was carrying a small heep of child in a blanket.  He said,  "Here, I got your sister.  Now, give me my body.  But," he said quickly, "I can only let seven of you go.  Who will it be?"  All the kids looked at each other.  Then, the door opened at the far right.  In stepped the other four kids.

"You four will choose the other three that get to go," said Spirit.  "And the children that are left will become my personal bow-and-arrow targets.  Now choose."  They chose the other kids and they were able to go, but they wanted to see what was going to happen to the others.  Then, Spirit went to get his bow and arrows.

As he raised his bow and aimed toward Sophie, she close her eyes and felt a big shake.  "Sophie, wake up!  It's 12:30," said her mother.  She rolled over and looked up and screamed, thinking her mother was Spirit.  "It's okay, it's just me."

"Oh, sorry.  I just had a horrible dream, and I thought that you were killing me," explained Sophie.  She told her mother about the aweful dream.  "Oh, by the way, Mom, I am never, ever, ever, watching that movie ever again."

"Okay, you don't have to," her mother said laughing.
