After a day at the beach
Lonely Gull

Lonely gull of dingy gray
Scans sand drifts and moats

As beachgoers leave
He forages spilled

Potato chips and sand
Covered Oreos as

Rising tide erases
Footprints and sandcastles

Cigarette butts and banana
Peals of thunder raise no concern

As he graces the shore
with his uncommon beauty.
